Arriving in Zurich
By Train
The main station is situated at the centre of Zurich and is the principal public transport intersection.
By Aeroplane
Zurich Unique Airport is situated in Kloten, 10 minutes by train from the centre of Zurich. There is a train station directly beneath the airport providing 5 – 10 direct connections to Zurich main station per hour. Taxis in Switzerland are expensive by comparison.
By Car
Arriving by car is not recommended. Zurich is infamous for its lack of parking spaces.
From the City to The University
The University of Applied Sciences of Special Needs Education Zurich is located in Oerlikon, 20 minutes by tram from Zurich's main station.
Tram 10 and tram 14 both stop at Berninaplatz, located in close proximity to the university building.
Formalities After Arriving in Zurich
International Office
Please contact the International Office as soon as possible after your arrival in Zurich and no later than your first day of study. Here you will receive your student identification card (called a "legi" in Switzerland), a written confirmation of your enrolment and general information on studying at the University of Applied Sciences of Special Needs Education Zurich. Erasmus students will also receive their stipend here if any has been awarded.
Registering at the Residents' Registration Office
All students are required to register and apply for the short-term residence permit at the appropriate Residents' Registration Office within 8 days of arriving in Switzerland. The Residents' Registration Office can be found in the respective regional district within the city of Zurich. The Residents' Registration Offices outside the city of Zurich can be found in the respective Town Halls (Gemeindehaus). Registration requires a valid passport and letter of confirmation from the university.
Erasmus Student Network ESN
The Erasmus Student Network Zurich organises various events and offers a platform for all Erasmus students studying at Swiss universities. The University of Applied Sciences of Special Needs Education is a member of the ESN Zurich. It is recommended that you register online after arriving in Switzerland.
