Special Educational Support in the Basic/First Level School Trials

Background and aims

The study aims at examining special educational support in the basic/first level school trials in terms of aims, basic conditions, implementation and experience.

Questions

The evaluation is intended to throw light on the following issues:

  • What are the aims and basic conditions for specific special educational support and courses on offer in the concepts of the basic/first level?
  • How are the special educational requirements implemented in the school trials, and what experiences did the specialists in special education and the basic level teachers make?
  • What are the consequences for the role and competencies of specialists in special education in the basic/first level school trial?

The evaluation serves the cantons as an aid to decision-making in terms of the organisation of the basic/first level models as regards specific special educational support. In addition, the results of the investigation can be included in the future design of the education at the Hochschule für Heilpädagogik.

Methods

  • Analyses of documents of the existing concepts
  • Interviews with specialists in special education and therapeutic education
  • Survey of teaching staff of the basic/first level within the framework of the evaluation of the EDK-Ost
