Privacy Statement

Last updated: September 12, 2018

The University of Applied Sciences of Special Needs Education Zurich (HfH) would like to welcome you to our website. The protection of your personal data is important to us. In this Privacy Statement, we explain what data is collected and processed when you visit our website.

1. Legal Basis

The relevant legal principles can be found here https://dsb.zh.ch/internet/datenschutzbeauftragter/de/ueber_uns/
rechtliche_grundlagen.html  Zur Webseite Kanton Zürich

2. Definition of Personal Data

Section 3 of the Information and Data Protection Act of the Canton of Zurich (IDHG ZH) defines personal data as information relating to an identified or identifiable person (e.g. name, address, telephone number, email or IP address).

3. Data Collection

When you visit the website, personal data is automatically collected. The data collected includes, in particular, the IP address, information on the device, browser or operating system used and the internet provider. Also collected are the date and time of the visit, pages and content accessed, functions used, the referring website, location information, language and country settings.
We use the data collected to improve our services and web content.

4. Storage of Data

The HfH will process and store your personal data for as long as is necessary in order to fulfil legal or contractual obligations or for operational reasons. Data can be stored for operational reasons beyond the legal retention periods if a legitimate business interest makes this necessary. Data that no longer needs to be stored is deleted, anonymized or archived.
Data subjects may at any time request the erasure or rectification of the data stored about them (see 12.)

5. Security of the Data

The HfH takes the necessary technical and organizational measures to protect the data in accordance with the current state of technology and the applicable legal requirements.

6. Disclosing Data

The data collected automatically when visiting the website is only disclosed to third parties if there are legal requirements (e.g. court orders) or if disclosure is necessary for legal or criminal proceedings (e.g. in the case of attacks on the HfH network infrastructure).
In addition, data can be processed by external service providers such as "Google Analytics" and "Matomo" (see 8.) Where this is the case, the HfH ensures that the commissioned service providers comply with data protection regulations.

7. Cookies

We use cookies for the collection and analysis of data (see also 8.1. and 8.2.) Cookies are small files which are stored on your computer when you visit the HfH website. Cookies allow us to recognize your device the next time you visit our website. We also use cookies that allow us to analyze your surfing behavior.

Your web browser allows you to block the use of cookies. You can find information on blocking cookies in your browser settings or on your provider's website. We would like to point out that blocking cookies may prevent you from making optimum use of all the website’s functions.

8. Web Analysis

To improve our services, we use the "Matomo" and "Google Analytics" web analysis services on our website.

8.1. “Matomo"

“Matomo“ is a service of InnoCraft Ltd. “Matomo“ allows us to evaluate the use of this website. This website uses the extension “AnonymizeIP“. This extension shortens your IP address before further processing so that it cannot be traced back directly to you. You can prevent “Matomo” from collecting data by blocking cookies (see 7.) We would like to point out that blocking cookies may prevent you from making optimum use of all the website’s functions. Further information about "Matomo" can be found at: https://matomo.org/privacy-policy/  Zur Matomo Webseite

8.2 “Google Analytics”

In addition to the Privacy Statement of the HfH, Google’s additional terms of use apply to this website:

“This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses so-called "cookies", text files which are stored on your computer and which help the website to analyze how you use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) is transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports about the website activities for the website operators and to provide services connected with the site activity and internet usage. Google may also transfer this information to third parties if required to do so by law or where third parties process this data on behalf of Google. Google will under no circumstances associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser; however please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website. By using this website, you give your consent to the processing of data about you by Google in the manner and for the purposes set out above."

Your IP address is anonymized by the Google Analytics function "_anonymizeIp()" to protect your privacy. The function changes the last octet of your IP address, which only allows a rough geographical localization.
See here: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/2763052?hl=en  Zur Google Webseite

If you want to completely prevent Google Analytics from collecting data, you can either prevent the installation of cookies (see 7.) or load an opt-out cookie onto your computer. This cookie prevents Google Analytics from collecting data on further visits: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout Zur Google Webseite

9. Social Media Plugins

This website does not use "social media plugins" which transmit IP addresses directly to social networking sites such as Facebook. The website only contains links to the offers of the corresponding third-party providers. Please note that the HfH is not responsible for compliance with data privacy regulations by social media providers.

10. Further Data Collection

For some services offered by the HfH (e.g. newsletters, contact forms, web applications, etc.), it is necessary to provide further personal data. By entering your data or registering, you agree to the use and storage of the personal data provided. We only use the personal data you give us to provide the service you have chosen. You can withdraw the consent you have given at any time using the email address given in the newsletter/contact form or by emailing kommunikation[at]hfh.ch E-Mail.

11. Links

This website contains links (cross references) to websites of other providers. When visiting these websites, only the data privacy statement of the respective provider is applicable. The HfH accepts no responsibility for the content and security of linked pages.

12. Rights of Users

The HfH respects the data protection rights of the users of the website. Should you require further information on data protection (in particular information on your stored data) or wish to exercise your rights to rectify, complete or erase your personal data, please contact the legal service of HfH, which can be reached at the following address:
